1st & 2nd Class
Busy Days!
Our 1st and 2nd Class pupils have had a fantastic start and have certainly been keeping busy! They have settled wonderfully into their new routines and have been working hard, having fun and enjoying lots of exciting learning experiences together.
There has been plenty of friendly competition during our Maths Champions games! The children have been battling it out head-to-head, putting their mental maths skills to the test as they race to solve their sums. There has been great excitement in the classroom, with everyone eager to become our next Maths Champion!
In History, the children have begun working on their Family Timelines, exploring important events and special memories from their own lives and families. They have really enjoyed putting their timelines together and are especially excited to have them on display for their parents and carers to see on Parents’ Morning.
We have also been very busy getting creative! After learning all about how hot air balloons work in science, the children brought their learning into Art and created their very own colourful 3D hot air balloons. They did a fabulous job, and our classroom is certainly looking a little more colourful because of them!
It has been a busy and exciting start for 1st and 2nd Class, and we are looking forward to lots more learning, exploring, creating and having fun together throughout the year!

A Wonderful Start!
Our Junior Infants have settled beautifully into life at St Patrick’s! They have been very busy getting to know their new school, making new friends and becoming familiar with all the routines of their school day.
Our Senior Infants have been wonderful role models for their new classmates. They have also been busy creating these fabulous self-portraits, looking closely at their own features and celebrating what makes each of them special and unique.
To mark those very special first days of school, Ms Flynn shared “That Little Hand”, a little poem she wrote many years ago, capturing that special moment when parents and carers let go of a little hand at the school door.
We are looking forward to a wonderful year of learning, playing, creating and growing together!

5th & 6th Class
March Fun in St. Patrick’s!
March was an amazing month for our school. In March we had a raffle for a week to raise money for the school. There were two things you could win – an Easter hamper or you could buy a guess for the ‘Guess How Many Sweets are in the Jar’ game. If you guessed the correct number you won the jar of sweets!
We also held a bake sale before the Easter holidays. People brought in a bunch of yummy treats and 6th Class ran it. Then I counted the money with the Student Council members (Rachel and Kai) – in total we raised €560! That means that each class gets to spend €140 each on yard equipment. We had an Assembly to announce the winner and say how much money we raised – it was a lot of fun!

Spring has arrived in St. Patrick’s National School!
Recently, 1st and 2nd Class we have been admiring the beautiful daffodils that greet us at our school door each morning. The bright yellow flowers inspired lots of wonderful learning in our classroom.
We read the famous poem “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud” by William Wordsworth and talked about how the poet describes the daffodils dancing in the breeze. The children shared their thoughts about the poem and the images it created in their minds.
Inspired by what we saw and read, the children created their own drawings and paintings of daffodils, using bright spring colours. Our classroom is now full of beautiful artwork that celebrates the arrival of Spring!
