5th & 6th Class
March Fun in St. Patrick’s!
March was an amazing month for our school. In March we had a raffle for a week to raise money for the school. There were two things you could win – an Easter hamper or you could buy a guess for the ‘Guess How Many Sweets are in the Jar’ game. If you guessed the correct number you won the jar of sweets!
We also held a bake sale before the Easter holidays. People brought in a bunch of yummy treats and 6th Class ran it. Then I counted the money with the Student Council members (Rachel and Kai) – in total we raised €560! That means that each class gets to spend €140 each on yard equipment. We had an Assembly to announce the winner and say how much money we raised – it was a lot of fun!

Spring has arrived in St. Patrick’s National School!
Recently, 1st and 2nd Class we have been admiring the beautiful daffodils that greet us at our school door each morning. The bright yellow flowers inspired lots of wonderful learning in our classroom.
We read the famous poem “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud” by William Wordsworth and talked about how the poet describes the daffodils dancing in the breeze. The children shared their thoughts about the poem and the images it created in their minds.
Inspired by what we saw and read, the children created their own drawings and paintings of daffodils, using bright spring colours. Our classroom is now full of beautiful artwork that celebrates the arrival of Spring!
We are really enjoying exploring nature, poetry, and creativity together as the season changes.
