Thank you so much everyone! We had a HUGE collection of food donated on Thursday morning for our Harvest assembly :) This food will be added to Sunday's collection, and distributed throughout the community by Revd. Hayes and his team of helpers.
Calling all pupils who love singing! Mrs. Kirwan is inviting pupils interested in joining a school choir to the Northover Hall on Wednesday 27th at 08:00. Come along if you like the idea, and we hope we can have the school choir singing merrily along at school events, both on-site and in the community!
A message from the PTA...
Dear parents, We would like to hold an Extraordinary General Meeting on Friday the 22nd of September at 2 p.m. in Ms. Newton's class, so that parents can have a chance to volunteer and nominate other members for the PTA. At our AGM in June only two parents came forward to be a part of our PTA, when normally we would have at least 4. As you know the PTA is a very important part of the school, as it is responsible for fundraising, sourcing after school activities and providing hospitality at various events through out the year. If you are unable to attend but would like to volunteer for a role in the PTA please talk to Ms. Newton, Deirdre Geraghty or Leslie Blair. The June AGM meeting minutes are available and will be posted on the PTA board. All parents are welcome to our coffee morning on Friday 29th at 08:20! Please come along and catch up with old friends and new :)
Ms. Aisling Travers will also be joining our staff here at St. Patrick's, on a part-time basis. She will be working on as a SET (Special Education Teacher) alongside Mrs. Kirwan! Welcome Ms. Travers, we hope you are very happy working with us all :)
We were saddened to see Ms. Layden, Naomi and Mrs. Carroll leave us in June, and we wish them all the best with their future plans! I'm sure they'll return for a visit! There have been some changes to the staff list as a result!
St. Patrick's are delighted to welcome Orla Furney as a permanent member of staff, and she's very excited to be teaching 5th and 6th this year. Here's what she has to say: ‘My name is Orla Furney and I'm from Co. Wexford. I trained as a teacher in the Church of Ireland College of Education. I love animals and I am a huge sports fan. My favourite sport is athletics and I participated in this from an early age. I competed for Ireland at international level under 18, winning the 400m hurdles. I really look forward to starting in St. Patrick's N.S!’ We are also thrilled to have Katie Cooke teaching with us this year, while Ms. Waugh is absent on maternity leave. The Infants are in safe hands! ‘My name is Katie Cooke. Originally from Sandyford, I've been living in Shankill for just over a year now, and am really enjoying life by the sea - especially with all the opportunities it affords me to swim and kayak, two of my favourite pastimes! Other than that, I enjoy spending time with family and friends and love nothing more than relaxing with a good book. I've wanted to be a primary school teacher for as long as I can remember, and I'm delighted to be working with the Junior and Senior Infants in St Patrick's this year!’ Our new school term will open on Wednesday 30th August 2017 at 08:20. We are looking forward to seeing all our past pupils again, and getting to know our new pupils too! There are 16 weeks in term one, so we have plenty of time to get back into the swing of things!
The whole school came together this week to learn more about Swaziland. We are linked to St. Francis' School there, and we knew very little about their country...so we took a day and learned some good facts! Please ask your children if you would like to learn some too!
Junior and Senior Infants presented information on the flag. 1st and 2nd explained the world of animals 3rd and 4th demonstrated a dance, and spoke about music, schools, history and landmarks. 5th and 6th presented facts on a variety of Swaziland topics. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day, and even the teachers learned something! Please enjoy some photos from the day in our gallery! We had a wonderful time at the parish fete, and thanks so much to all our volunteers! It was a lovely day, and our games tent was busy all day long! Please have a look in the gallery for the photos from the day - thank you for sharing your photos Blanca!
