During Maths Week, Junior and Senior Infants were learning about 2-D Shapes. We did a Maths puzzle, where they read clues about 2-D shapes, written by a Shape Monster, and guessed which shape the Shape Monster was describing.
We also spotted circles, squares, triangles and rectangles used in a pumpkin display, and learned a shape poem about Sammy Square, Suzy Circle, Tommy Triangle and Ricky Rectangle.
Some pics from our maths activity today!
The children worked in pairs and rolled 4 dice. If any of the dice made a total of 10 or they rolled doubles, they could collect a skeleton part. For example; If they rolled 3, 3, 4 and 6 they could get 2 skeleton parts each as they rolled a double and a total of 10. We had great fun!
I also gave www.sheppardsoftware.com as maths homework for the week!
Here are a few sample entries!
For Maths Week 5th & 6th class did 3D shapes. We learned about new shapes and their properties. We also constructed shapes using marshmallows and match sticks and we used 3D shape nets!
A cool construction...
